Flea Removal

We all know how much of a pain a flea infestation can be to you and your pets. Berks Pet Care has some natural remedies for flea removal For your pets.

For those who may not know, fleas are a pesky parasite that lives on hosts. They can live without eating for weeks hiding in plain sight on your pet or around your house. So, how can you help your pet rid of these pests? Berks Pet Care has a few tips for flea removal to keep in mind if an outbreak would occur. These techniques are simple and easy to follow. We highly encourage that you take immediate action as soon you are aware of your pet having the parasites. Some of these treatments require basic ingredients that you have lying around the house.

Nutrition

Normally, fleas tend to pick on weak or malnourished pets. So, we recommend buying premium food for your furry friends. What this will do will make your pet healthier, and make them less appealing for parasites to infest. Another way is by taking garlic or garlic powder and adding a small amount to your pet’s diet. This will make their blood unusable and inedible to the pests.

Natural Repellent

Instead of using topical repellents, you can purchase from a store you can create your own for an affordable price using basic items. Some of these flea removal kits can be made from the comfort of your home. We recommend using essential oils. Yes, it may sound silly but homeopathic care has been used on animals and humans for centuries because they are effective. However, be cautious about certain smells. Animals are keener to smell than humans so if it’s too strong for us it is very likely it is too strong for them.

We recommend 2 drops of Citronella, a drop of lemon, 2 drops clay sage, and 2 drops of peppermint.  Add these ingredients to a 2 oz. oil blend and your pets are set. Rub small amounts along the body to activate the repellent.

Cleanliness

Flea removal goes much further than getting them off your pet. They can reproduce anywhere and can lurk within your home without you noticing. The larvae can hatch and form a new generation within the cracks of your home. First, we recommend vacuuming after your removal. Try to emphasize on areas your dog resides the most. From there, take the time to wash all toys, sheets and other fabrics your dog typically lies on.

Finally, we know it can be a pain to remove those pesky parasites but it can be done. If you have any questions online contact form or contact us at (610) 467-7003.
